2025 Family Fast (January)

🌟 VFam, We’re Starting an Inspiring & Intentional Journey Together! 🌟

Theme: “The Year To Dominate”

Dominate: To have a commanding influence on; exercise control over.

In a world full of distractions and challenges, true dominance in life comes from within. Fasting and prayer are powerful tools to sharpen your focus, strengthen your spirit, and align your actions with your higher purpose.

Fasting teaches discipline and helps you master your body, while prayer connects you to divine wisdom and guidance. Together, they cultivate clarity, resilience, and unshakable confidence.

Take a step back, center yourself, and make a commitment to wholeheartedly participate in this corporate time of fasting and prayer. It’s not just an act of devotion—it’s a strategy for life mastery. Through fasting and prayer, you reclaim your power, realign your priorities, and step into the greatness you were created for.

Be intentional. Be prayerful. Be unstoppable. Dominate.

✨ How to Prepare for the Fast:

1. Preparation and Mindset

  • Pray for Clarity: Before starting, take time to pray and ask God to reveal what He wants to do in your life through this fast. Focus on personal growth, breakthrough, or a deeper connection with God.
  • Journal Your Expectations: Write down your thoughts, goals, and prayers for the fast. Reflect on what you hope to see God do over the 25 days.

2. Fasting in Community

  • Encourage Accountability: Partner up with someone for prayer support or accountability. Having someone to check in with can keep you grounded and motivated.
  • Group Prayer Times: As we embark on this fast, you have the opportunity to set up prayer partners or prayer groups (whether virtual or in-person) to come together in prayer and support one another during this time.

đź“– Scripture Reflection For Dominating:

  • Psalm 8:6 – “You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands: You have put all things under his feet.”
  • Genesis 1:28 – “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
  • Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
  • Romans 8:37 – “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

đź“– Scripture Focus for Family, Faith, Finance, Future and Fitness:

  • ✨ FAMILY
Peter 3:8 – “Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.”
  • ✨ FAITH
Hebrews 11:2 “By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.”
  • ✨ FINANCE
Deuteronomy 8:18 – “Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.”
  • ✨ FUTURE
Jeremiah 29:11-13“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
  • ✨ FITNESS
1 Corinthians 6:19-20“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

Take time to meditate on these scriptures during the fast and ask God to reveal new understanding as you press into His presence.

đź’ˇ Fasting Tips & Guidance:

1. Spiritual Preparation

  • Start Each Day with Prayer: Set your intentions to hear from God each day. Ask God to reveal areas of your life where He wants to see transformation.
  • Begin with Surrender: Start your fast by surrendering any distractions or fears to God. Let Him guide you during this consecration.

2. Physical Preparation

  • Ease Into the Fast: If you’re new to fasting, it’s essential to gradually reduce food intake as the fast approaches. This helps your body adjust to the changes.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water during the fast to keep your body healthy and focused.

3. Practical Tips

  • Create a Meal Plan: Use the Daniel Fast food list and helpful eating tips to plan your meals ahead of time. This can help you avoid last-minute decisions that may disrupt your fast.
  • Healthy Snacks for Kids: For children and youth, encourage three healthy meals and two healthy snacks each day. Focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

🎶 Creative Worship & Praise Ideas:

  • Worship Playlist: Curate a playlist of songs that emphasize God’s power, dominion, and victory. Worship through music can be a powerful way to invite God’s presence throughout the day.
  • Worship Anywhere: Find creative ways to worship beyond the usual church setting—take walks in nature, pray during your commute, or even meditate on scripture in quiet moments.

⚡ Sustaining the Fast:

1. Adjust for Health Needs

  • Listen to your body. If you have medical conditions, be sure to modify your fast as needed (e.g., partial fasts, eating lighter meals, etc.). Always consult with a healthcare professional if necessary.

2. Stay Encouraged

  • We’ll be sending regular words of encouragement, meditation scriptures, and testimonies to keep the momentum going. Stay connected to the community and support each other through the process.

🚨 Special Note for Children and Youth:

You Can Fast in Jesus’ Name!

While fasting, keep your countenance positive. Matthew 6:16-18 tells us not to “advertise our fasting.” Keep your fasting a secret. Be sensible and do your best. God does not smile upon “super fasters.”

Expect God to be AWESOME and to do AWESOME things through you and the Church Family. God bless you!
Fasting Instructions for Children and Youth God gives us pastors according to His heart who will feed us with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15).

We must obey our pastors for they watch over our souls (Hebrews 13:17). Parents should teach and guide by their example the importance of following the leadership of our pastors.

When Pastor Bady proclaims the fast, children and youth are capable of obeying and participating.

Parents, please prayerfully consider including your children and youth in the Church Family Spiritual Fast.

It will be a blessed experience for them and it will begin to lay a foundation for their future. Your support and encouragement are recommended to maximize your child’s success.

What is a Fast for Children and Youth? The Hebrew word for fasting means “to cover the mouth.” Fasting has been a part of Christianity through the ages. It is a form of spiritual and scriptural sacrifice. Fasting does not change or impress God. Fasting changes us.

Through fasting, Christians are empowered to discipline their daily relationship with the Lord.

Why Should Children and Youth Fast?
1. To have a closer relationship with God our Father and Jesus Christ;
2. To become more sensitive and responsive to the Holy Spirit;
3. To present the opportunity for you to spend more time waiting on the Lord; and
4. To build your prayer life. As children and youth fast, they, too, will receive the benefits and blessings of obedience and fasting.

How to Fast
• Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Eat healthy vegetables, fruits, meats, breads, milk, and cereal.
• Eat a healthy snack between meals such as fruit, vegetables, etc.
• Drink WATER, 100% JUICE, and MILK as the only beverages.

NO SWEETS, PIZZA, FRENCH FRIES, CHIPS, CANDY, CHEWING GUM, SOFT DRINKS,OR ANY OTHER JUNK FOODS!

Our children and youth are not expected to fast in the same way as adults. They should be eating three healthy meals and two healthy snacks each day, focusing on nutrition and overall health during this time.

This fast is an opportunity for us to unite as a church family, experience God’s power in fresh ways, and walk into the dominion He has promised us. Let’s press in together, in faith and expectation, knowing that the time is now to dominate!

Are you ready? Let’s get started! 🙏🏼🌿
